Morukuru is situated on private land, a jewel in the magnificent wildlife crown that is Madikwe Game Reserve. Teeming with game and wildlife, as well as many different bird species, the Morukuru game drive experience is made more memorable by the fact that the drives are totally tailored to fit in with what guests would like to see - and when they would like to see it. Although drives yield the most sightings early in the morning or in the early evening, when game and other wildlife are more likely to be seen, the rangers will adhere entirely to guests schedules.
Whatever guests, particularly those from overseas, perhaps never having previously had the privilege of exposure to South Africa's astonishing array of wildlife and game, could imagine awaits….and more! And for those who are happily packing their mosquito repellent, bush hats and donning their hiking boots - to once again walk free on safari - the vista of wildlife, flora and fauna, and the scent and taste of the African bush will be comfortingly familiar, making them wish they had never left!
The magnificent sable were first discovered on the vast plains of the Groot Marico district next to which Madikwe is situated and the reserve offers potential sightings of many other buck such as Gemsbok, Impala, Springbok, Kudu and Nyala. The ‘top ten’ are of course also there to reward the observant guest on a game drive Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Black and White Rhino, Buffalo, Brown and Spotted Hyena, Giraffe, Wild Dog and Cheetah. Morukuru not only offers guests their own private game-viewing vehicle and dedicated game ranger; but also an experienced tracker to assist in a fun, informative and inclusive game-viewing experience. Finally, with bird species numbering some 340, avid bird lovers will also not be disappointed.
