Brunch is breakfast without an alarm clock and the perfect way to celebrate Mother’s Day this year. Our team, under the leadership of our Head Chef Scott Dressels has created a delicious brunch menu which will impress your mum (and your family and friends)!
All this talk of brunch got us thinking about the origins of the word brunch. The word is a blend of breakfast and lunch and came into use in England in the late 19th century. History tells us that author Guy Beringer invented brunch as a cure for the ghastly hangovers he regularly experienced on Sunday mornings, due to excessive overindulgence on Saturday nights! Brunch was generally served from 10am to 2pm and included some form of alcoholic drink – we guess Beringer needed a bit of “ hair of the dog” to set him right. Our Mother’s Day Brunch menu ticks all the boxes with delicious sweet and savoury treats as well as Prosecco Mimosas to toast all the mothers in your life. Our Mother’s Day brunch will take place on Sunday May 12th from 10am – 2pm at AtholPlace Hotel & Villa.
