Morukuru Beach Lodge – celebrating 12 months of sustainability luxury!

We can’t believe it’s been a year since we welcomed our first guests to Morukuru Beach Lodge with four Ocean View Suites and a secluded Honeymoon Suite.   This new addition to our family was exciting for many reasons, but one of the highlights has been the opportunity to introduce our spectacular location and spacious, understated bliss to solo-travellers, couples or small families.

Morukuru Ocean House operates on an exclusive use basis which is great for large groups or individual families but  Morukuru Beach Lodge is different as it runs as a lodge so you can now whisk your partner, spouse or a couple of kids away for some serious down-time.

Morukuru Beach Lodge is set within the De Hoop Nature Reserve at Koppie Alleen, offering unrivalled views of the spectacular Indian Ocean, pristine white sand-dunes and endless vistas of indigenous fynbos. You might be in a conservation area with access to this extraordinary natural environment but that doesn’t mean you forsake any creature comforts. Welcome to a sanctuary of refined luxury, with each suite at least 90 sqm in size with a balcony (or a large private deck and oversized outside bath for the Honeymoon Suite). If you want to snuggle indoors you have underfloor heating, a fireplace and television which makes for a cosy and intimate refuge.

This spacious luxury has been built on the firm foundation of our eco-conscious principles designed to minimise your tourism footprint.  Morukuru Beach Lodge ( just like Morukuru Ocean House) iscompletely off the grid!  All our electricity is harnessed from solar panels (there is a backup generator for any extended overcast periods) hot water and underfloor heating is from pallet burner boilers and for ambient heating, there are fireplaces burning local invasive Rooikrans trees. Our water is from a borehole. We have our own sewage plant and a Biorock system for cooking gas.

If you decide to drag yourself away from your pool lounger you can participate in a variety of outdoor activities designed for all levels of adventure seeker. ( link to Get Active )Land-based marine safaris, fynbos walks, bird-watching, sandboarding, mountain biking, snorkelling, wild-life tracking, whale-watching are all on the menu as well as exceptional seasonal dining accompanied by excellent local wines.
