Join Morukuru Family De Hoop’s 4th annual beach clean-up

It’s that time again: when we roll up our sleeves, get a little sandy, and do something wonderful for our planet! Join us on 16 – 18 May 2025 for Morukuru Family De Hoop’s 4th annual beach clean-up at De Hoop Nature Reserve, in partnership with CapeNature and De Hoop Collection. This special weekend is all about giving back while soaking up the beauty of one of South Africa’s most beautiful coastal destinations. This year, our property Morukuru Beach Lodge is teaming up with De Hoop Collection, in offering discounted accommodation rates for guests who want to combine purpose with luxury – see rates below. If an overnight stay isn’t possible, day visitors are very welcome, too! You can join us for the clean-up on Friday 16 May (15:00 – 17:00) or Saturday 17 May (09:00 – 16:00). Saturday helpers can enjoy a well-earned lunch at Bites Beach Café (pizza or burger + drink) for just R185 per person.

What to expect on the clean-up

We’ve got everything covered so you can focus on the experience. We provide all the gear – think gloves, bags, and ponchos – so all you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. You’ll spend the day cleaning the beaches but also get to relax by tucking into delicious meals, sipping sundowners when the day is complete, and taking in the serene surroundings of De Hoop Nature Reserve.

Why join?

First and foremost, it’s an incredible way to give back to nature. De Hoop Nature Reserve is home to an extraordinary variety of marine and coastal wildlife and keeping its shores clean helps protect everything from tiny molluscs to the majestic Southern Right whales that visit these waters. And while this experience revolves around conservation, it’s also about connection and adventure. Spend quality time with family and friends in a meaningful way, breathing in the fresh ocean air, feeling the sand between your toes, and knowing you’re making an impact.
