Victory for Tourism! Wamkelekile! We are ready to welcome you!

South Africa has moved to Alert Level 2 of the national lockdown!  All restrictions on inter-provincial travel in South Africa have been lifted!   Wamkelekile!  We are ready to welcome you with the recommended health and safety protocols in place.

We can’t deny that the past five months have been challenging, but we put our time to good use by staying on top of our games, sharpening our skills and preparing. We are all set and excited to welcome you to Morukuru Ocean House and Morukuru Beach Lodge. We never lost faith, and now with reduced regulations, we are once again seeing a demand for local tourism and travel. The race is on to secure exclusive-use holidays.

Morukuru Ocean House and Morukuru Beach Lodge guarantee seclusion and privacy. Social distancing etiquette is assured with our exclusive use house and our intimate ( five suites) lodge. The essence of Morukuru is that you have the luxury property all to yourself.

That makes it easy to stay two metres apart, as recommended by health authorities. Embrace the great outdoors, get some fresh air, and relieve stress. An added benefit is topping up your Vitamin D levels which enhances immune systems.

The location is unique. The house and lodge are packed with facilities, and there are loads of outdoor activities. Staying physically active is one of the best ways to keep your mind and body healthy. The Centers for Disease Prevention and Health ( CDC) in the USA regularly publishes evidence of the correlations between exercise, physical health and mental wellbeing. The pandemic has been stressful, and everyone has responded differently. The perfect antidote is 34000 hectares of Fynbos, beaches, dunes, vlei wetlands and the Potberg Mountains.

Use your time at Morukuru Ocean House & Beach Lodge to reset your internal wellness barometer. Get going with a walk and enjoy an introduction to the diversity and beauty of the indigenous vegetation found in De Hoop Nature Reserve including over 1500 species of fynbos. Reap the benefits of some bird watching and look out for over 260 species, including the endangered African Black Oystercatcher as well as a colony of rare and threatened Cape Vultures. If mountain biking is your thing, our trained staff can guide you along different routes to explore the area around our properties and the reserve.

The whale-watching season is here, and Morukuru Ocean House and Morukuru Beach Lodge offer world-renown opportunities to spot Southern Right whales and dolphins. Head down to the beach for a marine walk. Look out for a variety of sea-creatures including hermit crabs, starfish, octopuses, mussels, sea cucumber and sea & sand anemone. Wildlife enthusiasts can hop on our 4 x 4  for a nature drive. These drives allow you to get deeper into the De Hoop Nature Reserve and identify rare animals like Bontebok and Cape Mountain Zebra and spot other animals like Eland, the Cape clawless otter, baboons, rock dassies and the occasional rooikat (caracal) and elusive Cape Leopard.

At Morukuru Ocean House and Morukuru Beach Lodge, you write your script, and under our direction, everything is prepared for your individual needs and likes. The magic of this type of holiday is that you choose your perfect escape. Let us know what you like, want to do and expect, and then relax when you arrive with every detail being perfected for you by our crew. If we have learned anything during isolation, it is that life is not a dress rehearsal. This is it! Raise the curtain. Step onto our stage and push play for an extraordinary, exclusive-use experience. RATES Wamkelekile!  We are ready to welcome you.
