If you thought the Southern Right Whales were the only celebrities in De Hoop Nature Reserve, allow us to introduce the ocean’s supporting cast: the Management Team of Morukuru Family De Hoop. They’re the people who turn a Marine Protected Area into your home by the sea, where the tides set the tempo and family comes first.
Get to know the team – including their favourite seaside moments, secret spots, and soulful rituals – below.

Lynette & Mauritz Greeff: General Managers
Once bush-side at Madikwe Game Reserve, now surf-side at Morukuru Family De Hoop, Lynette and Mauritz have stitched the wilds of Africa and the wide-open ocean into one family story, complete with a little adventurer in tow.“It has truly been a pleasure to experience the contrast between the wild ‘Big Five’ and the vast, mysterious ocean… a place so full of wonder, learning, and sharing, all as a family.” ~ Lynette & MauritzAsk them for one memory to bottle and they’ll choose a small turtle, rescued shortly after their arrival and released months later at Koppie Alleen – a reminder that conservation here is profoundly moving. Their family joy is found in the togetherness of it all: marine walks, nature drives, discovery on land and sea, always as a unit. Lynette’s perfect moment? Kicking off shoes on the veranda and simply being. Mauritz’s? Allowing the beauty of this place to take over.
“We call it every day magic, and it’s such a privilege to experience,” he says.

Elliot Goba: Operations Manager
Elliot reads the coastline like a beloved book, greeting every arrival with the kind of warmth that turns check-in into a homecoming. His secret lookout is the sandstone ledges in front of Bites Beach Café – a front-row seat to breaching whales.“My favourite part is creating a warm welcome with a smile and making guests feel comfortable in our environment. It’s about showing them they’re valued and appreciated.” ~ Elliot
Corne & Kayleigh Lamprecht: Assistant General Managers
Kayleigh is the calm at the door and the sparkle in the details, a self-confessed “admin lover” who swapped an office for the ocean and never looked back. She’ll tell you the view is different every day and that Morukuru Beach Lodge is the rare place where three worlds meet: endless beach and rock pools, rolling white dunes, and a green sweep of fynbos… with interiors that echo the colours outside.“In summer, you can walk the beaches, picnic, cycle, and swim. In winter, the fire is cosy, and the whales put on a show you can watch from the dining room, bar, and ocean-view suites.” ~ KayleighCorne is a beach boy at heart, happiest with salt on his skin and sand underfoot. He loves guiding our guests to discover it all and his love for this coastline fuels action: leading beach clean-ups, rallying guests and neighbours, and turning our Plastic 4 Coffee initiative at Bites Beach Café into a movement that keeps the reserve’s shores pristine.
“I’ve been enjoying these beaches for more than seven years and they’ve never looked better since we took action. Credit goes to our guests, our Morukuru Family team, Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation, CapeNature, and every helping hand that keeps our coastline clean.” ~ Corne

Jaco du Plessis & Nicole Partridge: Morukuru Ocean House Managers
Nicole is here for the feeling you get when whales cruise past the lodge windows: a gasp, a grin, and a memory stamped forever. She’s a champion of the little touches that make a big difference.“I haven’t been anywhere that puts so much thought into the finer details for special moments. The effort that goes into a birthday or celebration here is extraordinary.” ~ NicoleJaco is our resident rock-pool raconteur – part naturalist, part treasure-hunter. Low tide is his curtain call; spring tides are his standing ovation.
“Rock pools keep the ocean’s best secrets. On spring and new moons, deep pools are exposed and you find all sorts of weird and wonderful creatures and seaweeds. Sometimes big fish linger as the tide slips out, a surprise show for early risers. I love the challenge of finding new things and learning more.” ~ Jaco

Why Morukuru Family De Hoop feels different
- It’s the setting: A Marine Protected Area where whales calve in winter and rock pools brim with life.
- It’s the philosophy: The Morukuru Freedom Concept at Morukuru Ocean House means your time is truly yours. Meals when you want them, activities tailored to you, and the privacy to reconnect.
- It’s the purpose: Conservation is woven into daily life, from turtle rescues with partners like the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation to annual beach clean-ups and the Coastal Conservation with a Purpose package that takes guests behind the scenes.
- It’s the people: Warm, attentive, and quietly brilliant at turning luxury into a feeling: thoughtful turndowns, spontaneous picnics, fires lit just before you knew you needed them.
