Luxury boutique eco lodge in De Hoop Nature Reserve
Morukuru Beach Lodge, the newest member of Morukuru Family De Hoop since July 2018, is situated at Koppie Alleen, approximately 1 km west from Morukuru Ocean House along the same pristine coastline of the De Hoop Nature Reserve. Considered to be the ultimate place in South Africa to see southern right whales, De Hoop Nature Reserve also offers towering white sand dunes, limestone cliffs lapped by the Indian Ocean, rock pools and coastal fynbos.
Morukuru Beach Lodge consists of 4 luxury Ocean View Suites with balconies, offering endless views of the Indian Ocean and the nearby white sand dunes, plus our popular and secluded Honeymoon Suite, which besides views of the nearby fynbos covered dunes and the ocean, also offers a large private deck with comfortable sun loungers and an oversized outside bath. Morukuru Beach Lodge is a sanctuary of refined comfort and luxury, with each room at least 90 sqm in size and featuring underfloor heating, a fireplace and television.
Morukuru Beach Lodge, unlike Ocean House, operates as a lodge (not exclusive-use only). Rooms at Morukuru Beach Lodge can be booked individually which makes this ideal for couples travelling, or smaller families. All meals and 2 group-guided activities daily (shared with the other guests), as well as soft drinks, are included in the rate.
* It is also possible to book Morukuru Beach Lodge on exclusive use basis, subject to availability. During Peak Season on exclusive-use basis only.
Just 3 hours drive from Cape Town (or 1 hour private charter flight) Morukuru Beach Lodge is ideally situated halfway between Cape Town and Knynsa/Plettenberg along the Garden Route.
* 2WD with higher ground clearance is recommended for the gravel roads to and inside De Hoop Nature Reserve.
Morukuru Beach Lodge has been built with the greatest sensitivity to the environment. Due to our remote location we are fully off the grid. Our electricity is generated entirely by solar panels, for the odd longer cloudy periods we do have a backup generator however. Our hot water is produced by pellet burners and the whole lodge has water based underfloor heating.
Guests can enjoy lazy days by the pool, sip sundowners on the first floor roof-top terrace and lounge in the sheltered courtyard.

At Morukuru Beach Lodge we source most of our food and wines locally and our meals, in line with the concept of a bush lodge, are served as follows:
- breakfast (08:00-09:30),
- lunch buffet (13:00-15:00 hrs),
- dinner (19:00-21:00 hrs)
All meals, snacks and soft drinks are included in the daily rate. Our menus change seasonally.
Guests can also request a picnic basket with a blanket (please let us know at breakfast time so we can prepare) and enjoy a secluded lunch on the beach, in the dunes or amongst the fynbos.
