New luxury boutique eco lodge, opening 7 July 2018
The new Morukuru Beach Lodge, part of Morukuru Family De Hoop, is situated at Koppie Alleen, approximately 1 km west from Morukuru Ocean House along the same pristine coastline of the De Hoop Nature Reserve. Considered to be the ultimate place in South Africa to see southern right whales, De Hoop Nature Reserve also offers towering white sand dunes lapped by the Indian Ocean, limestone cliffs, rock pools and coastal fynbos.
Morukuru Beach Lodge consists of 4 luxury Ocean View Suites and 1 Dune View Suite with views of the Indian Ocean and the surrounding sand dunes. Morukuru Beach Lodge is a sanctuary of refined comfort and luxury.
Morukuru Beach Lodge, unlike Ocean House, will operate as a lodge (not exclusive-use only). Rooms at Morukuru Beach Lodge can be booked individually which makes this ideal for couples travelling, or smaller families. All meals and 2 guided activities daily, as well as soft drinks, are included in the rate.
* It is also be possible to book Morukuru Beach Lodge on exclusive use basis, subject to availability.
Just 3 hours drive from Cape Town (or 1 hour private charter flight) Morukuru Beach Lodge is ideally situated halfway between Cape Town and Knynsa/Plettenberg along the Garden Route.
* 2WD with higher ground clearance is recommended for the gravel roads to and inside De Hoop Nature Reserve.
Morukuru Beach Lodge has been built with the greatest sensitivity to the environment. Due to our remote location we are fully off the grid. Our electricity is generated entirely by solar panels, for the odd longer cloudy periods we do have a backup generator however. Our hot water is produced by pellet burners and the whole lodge has water based underfloor heating.
Guests can enjoy lazy days by the pool, sundowners on the first floor roof-top terrace and sheltered courtyards.
#DayZero the facts.
Ocean House is fortunately not affected by the current water crisis in the Western Cape and Cape Town. We are off-the grid of the municipal water supply and source our water from independent boreholes on our property, which are powered by solar panels. Guests are able to shower or bath and continue to have access to running water, but we do encourage everyone to be water-conscious at all times. This underpins our commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism.
Wining & Dining
The restaurant at Morukuru Beach Lodge serves
● breakfast (07:30-09:30 hrs),
● lunch (13:00-15:00 hrs),
● dinner (19:00-21:00 hrs)
All meals, snacks and soft drinks are included in the daily rate.
For the adventurous why not request for a picnic basket with a blanket and enjoy a secluded lunch on the beach, in the dunes or amongst the fynbos.
Activities for all ages
At Morukuru Beach Lodge guests can enjoy a wide range of activities. 2 guided activities daily are included in the rate.
