What our guests had to say:
The word magical is the only one to describe our time at the Morukuru River House. We were a party of 8; two children with their mother, grandmother, great aunt, great uncle, and two family friends. Our trip to South Africa ended in Madikwe and the time there is forever imprinted on our hearts. As we drove up to the Morukuru River House we were greeted by the staff as they sang a welcome song at the entrance to the house. Evan, Ilse, Gummy, Sipho, Masego 1, Masego 2, Susan, Ellen, and Aubrey stole our hearts from the moment we arrived, and the house had an understated luxury with our every need or desire tended to. The food was amazing, the service impeccable, and the relationships formed were priceless. We were a bit unsure about how things would go with the children, aged 6 and 3. From the moment we arrived, they were made to feel important and were included in every activity with some activities even being centered around them. They bonded with many of the staff. The staff played with them, engaged them, accommodated their fussiness at mealtime, got them to smile when they were grumpy, and showed a genuine caring for their enjoyment of our time at Morukuru. They also did whatever they could to make my experience, as their mother, as stress free as they could, allowing me to feel relaxed and to be in the moment with my children. It was truly a beautiful family experience. The game drives were the central parts of each day. We never imagined that driving in an open-air car for hours upon hours, over roads that were not roads until we braved the path, would be an experience that filled our hearts and souls. We were constantly surprised by the breadth of knowledge that our Ranger, Evan, could impart about the ants crossing the road, the branches on the trees, and everything in between. The rising and setting of the African sun are visions we can still conjure when we close our eyes. The sounds of the bush still ring in our ears. Nothing surprised us more than the depth of sadness we felt, as if leaving family, when saying goodbye to the house staff. We never imagined that we would leave a piece of each of our hearts at Morukuru.

Six Stars – Morukuru Farm House!!
The beauty and glamour of the the Morukuru Farm House is simply breathtaking and yet extremely “homely” !!!
BUT more than this incredible dwelling place, were the amazing people that looked after us!! I, and I speak on behalf of my family and friends, cannot speak any higher of the staff who made our stay one that will be edged on our hearts forever! Stayed July 2018.
Wonderful property, staff, and experience!
We could not have asked for more from Enoch and the rest of the staff at AtholPlace Villa. The accommodations were comfortable, beautiful, and modern. The staff was efficient and friendly. Enoch, our host, was amazing with the kids, always friendly and professional, yet felt like we were with one of our friends. I will definitely go back to AtholPlace Villa if I’m ever in South Africa again! Stayed August 2018
