Today is World Book Day when we celebrate authors, illustrators, publishers, books and reading.
This annual event is organised by the United Nations and is observed all around the world - usually, organisations, schools, public bodies and businesses are united in the promotion of books and reading. But this year things are a little different with self-isolation and quarantine orders in place. Now more than ever, is the time when the power of books can be used to combat isolation, to reinforce ties between people, and to expand our horizons, while stimulating our minds and creativity.
Our team in Madikwe shared what they are reading currently:
Justice:“The reason I love this book "Bartending Dummies 3rd edition" it's got a classic cocktail and latest cocktails ideas and it's never let me down alway when I use it. I always get a peferct result”.
Johan and Shimmy: “In times where we cant go out and experience animals behaving in their natural ways we like to read all about them and what others have learnt in their time. One can never learn enough about behavior or know everything”.
Beauty:“I love this book because it talks more about south african history especially Soweto where I grew up. And despite the challenges Trevor Noah faced when growing up he didn't allow his background and all challenges stop him to achieve his dreams”.
Esmeralda:“Cooking is my passion but baking my hobby. If I dont have time to bake it, I read it!”
So as J.K. Rowling said: “If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book.”
Happy reading!
